NOTARY PUBLIC APPLICANTS:
If you are a Sussex County resident who is interested in learning more
about becoming a Notary Public visit the State’s Web site at:
www.nj.gov/treasury/revenue/dcr/programs/notary.html.
Once at the site, if you would like to make an application for notary
public, click on the link “Application for a New or Renewed
Commission.” An application will appear; print the application,
complete and sign it, and then forward it to one of the legislators
listed below for his/her endorsement. That legislator will forward your
application to the Department of Treasury, provided you enclose the
following:
(1) Your completed application for notary;
(2) A stamped envelope addressed to the Department of Treasury, Notary
Public Section, P.O. Box 452, Trenton, NJ 08625; and
(3) A check in the amount of $25.00 payable to Treasurer, State of New
Jersey.

a name or address change, please click

When you receive your paperwork from the Business Support Service Bureau,
confirming your commission, bring it in to the County Clerk’s
Office at 83 Spring Street, Suite 304, in Newton, and you will be administered
the Notary Oath. The fee for this service is $15.00.
Our hours of operation are Mondays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Tuesday through
Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed holidays).
Please note that the Notary Public Commission Certificate and the Oath
Qualification Certificate must be completed at my office within
three (3) months of the date of your commission. Failure to do
so in the allotted time will result in cancellation of your appointment.
