Voter Registration
Voter registration forms are available online, or one may be sent directly
to your home by calling the Board of Elections at (973)579-0950. Please
click here to print a voter registration form. After completing
the required information, please send your registration to the Board
of Elections, 83 Spring Street, Suite 305, Newton NJ 07860. The Board
of Elections cannot accept faxed copies or an electronic transmission
of a voter registration form since an original signature is required.
Civilian Absentee Voting
You may apply for an absentee ballot if you are a qualified and registered
voter by written application to this office. The deadline for such requests
are 7 days before any and all elections (Primary, General, School, etc.)
Any absentee voter who fails to apply by the deadline may apply in person
to the office on any day up to 3:00 p.m. of the day before the Election.
This entitles you to receive an application for each election. Click
here for an absentee ballot which may be printed out and mailed
or delivered to the Sussex County Clerk's Office.
Permanent Absentee List
As a service to permanently and totally disabled voters, you may request
that their/your name be placed on a permanent absentee voting list for
all future elections.
Military Absentee Voting
If you are in the military service or know of someone who is, absentee
voting privileges are available to military personnel, their dependents
or patients in veterans hospitals or civilians attached to or serving
with the military. Members of the armed services can visit http://www.servicemembers.gov
to gain further information about absentee voting rights guaranteed
to them by law, as well as to learn about other recent legislation that
safeguards the employment rights and financial security of service members.

Petitions
Candidate nominating Petitions for all County Offices (Freeholders,
Clerk, Sheriff & Surrogate) and Independent candidates seeking office
are available at the County Clerk's Office for distribution. For
more information about petitions please contact your local town clerk
or the County Clerk's Office.
Election Information
As a service to the public the County Clerk's Office provides voter
lists as well as Campaign Expenditure Reports and Financial Disclosure
Statements on file for inspection. All questions on election procedures
will be answered as well.
